Air Conditioners Changing to R410a Refrigerant

With the world craze to "go green" we are seeing a new principles being implemented in the way we use air conditioning.  The existing principles which many citizen refer to as Freon is categorically what is termed R-22. The R-22 refrigerant is being supplanted by the R410a refrigerant which is a much more environment kindly and power conserving system.  This overhaul is slated for 2010 and will replace the R-22 with the R410a thoroughly because they work on two opposite pressure systems.

The copper lines that the R-22 use will need to be changed out because it uses mineral oils that break down into damaging carbons that are speculated to be causing the global warming urgency the governments of the world seem to be so worried about. R-410a will use artificial oil that will be able to reserve at much higher temperatures than that of the old.

Air Conditioner And Heater Units

The old piping will have mineral oil deposits throughout the piping and this is what the new principles is aimed at enhancing and replacing. If the piping is not supplanted it will wreak havoc with the new principles because it will not be able to take the pressure of the R410a and will fabricate deposits on the compressor walls and damage the metering device.

The implementation of this new principles will need a fresh start because if you were to couple the two it will cause the very same problems that the R-22 is said to be causing.  The old principles could have moisture retained inside the piping and this does not go well with the functions of the new R-410a.

If you are told by an installer or sales person of the new refrigerant that you can use your existing piping because they are going to blast it out or flush them out make sure you tell them you know more than they do and you want to have the piping thoroughly supplanted when they setup the new heating and air system.

Whether you believe in global warming or not is irrelevant because we are going to see a change in all the carbon systems that are currently operating across the planet. This being the case you might as well do your homework and get a firm understanding of what these changes are going to be so you know what you need to do to and how to abide by the inception of new equipment.

Air Conditioners Changing to R410a RefrigerantThermostat Upgrade - Trane packaged heat pump system Video Clips. Duration : 5.58 Mins.

Upgrading the original Trane Weathertron thermostat to a new Honeywell RTHL3550 multi purpose thermostat. I did set it up for a heat pump. Single stage cooling, two stage heating. Single stage heat pump with back up Aux heat strips. When I got it out of the box, it made 1 click for heating, 1 click for cooling, and 1 click for fan only. That was when it was set up for a single stage gas furnace and single stage A/C. Once I set it up for a single stage heat pump, with Aux heat strips, and emergency heat, it still made 1 click for fan only, but then made 2 clicks for heating, and 2 clicks for cooling. Because once I told it that it was going to control an all electric system, it has to tell the fan to come on when it calls for heating or cooling, where as with a gas furnace, the furnace automatically turns the fan on, so the thermostat doesn't have to.

Rv Water Leaks

If there is a way to get in your Rv, water will find it. Water leaks on an Rv can cause farranging damage and can be highly high-priced to repair. When I worked at an Rv dealership I saw the damaging effects that water can cause to an Rv time and time again. I learned the chapter the hard way. I appraised a unit that was being traded in and didn't recognize the farranging water damage, which resulted in a thousand dollars worth of repairs. Hindsight is 20/20 and I speedily learned how to seek for, and recognize possible water damage on Rvs. My recommendation is that you seek for possible water leaks twice a year at a minimum, once in the fall and again in the spring.

Every seam on your Rv and everywhere the constructor cut a hole in your Rv has the possible to allow water in. To protect your investment and your wallet take the time to certainly seek all of these seams and sealants. Water damage on an Rv is similar to progressive damage to a tire. The outside of the tire looks fine, but the internal damage over a long duration of time causes the tire to fail without any warning. The outside of your Rv looks fine but the internal damage caused by water over a long duration of time can consequent in the whole roof, floor or wall rotting away without you knowing it. Here are a few things to look for while your inspections.

Air Conditioner And Heater Units

Always keep safety on your mind when you are working on the roof of your Rv You can be seriously injured from a fall! A reader of mine recommend that you use 2 pieces of 1/2"
plywood, 2 foot by 4 foot, to move around on and spread your weight out over the
roof rafters.

* To stop a leak before it starts, thoroughly seek all roof and body seams. Consult with your Rv dealer for sealants compatible with dissimilar types of roofing materials.

* Look for any discoloration and feel for any soft spots on the ceiling around roof vents, air conditioners, Tv antennas, plumbing vents, and any other openings that were cut in the roof.

* Look for any discoloration or wrinkles in the wallpaper, and feel for any soft spots on the walls around all windows, doors, vents, slide outs, or any other openings that were cut in the side walls.

* recognize the location of items like the water heater, furnace, outside shower, potable water fill and city water inlet on the outside of the Rv and then access those areas from the inside of the Rv and look for any indications of water damage around these openings.

* Open all overhead cabinets and look in the top corner where the walls meet the ceiling for any discoloration or feel for any soft spots. This would indicate a leak at the seam where the sidewall and the roof attach.

* Check in all outside storehouse compartments for any indications of water leaks or water damage.

* Check for any soft spots on the roof itself especially around the roof seams at the front and rear of the Rv. thoroughly seek all sealants on the roof around every opening.

* Some Class C motor homes are notorious for leaks in the cab over bed area. Look for any signs of discoloration and feel for soft spots. Reach under the mattress and feel for water.

* Look and feel on the outside of the Rv for any signs of delaminating. Delaminating is caused by water getting between the outside fiberglass and the sidewall. When this happens the outside fiberglass separates from the sidewall of the Rv. You can stand at the front or rear of the Rv and look down the side for any noticeable ripples or what looks like a bubble. You can also press on the sidewalls. If you feel the outside fiberglass move it is delaminating. Often times delaminating starts around where an opening that was made in the sidewall.

Don't just seek your Rv for water damage; certainly seek your Rv for water damage. If you do this on a regular basis you can locate and repair the source of any water damage before it has a opening to do a great deal of damage. I think I'll start checking our motor home more than twice a year.

Happy Camping,

Mark

Split Ductless Air Conditioners: Zoning, Types and Styles

Residential air conditioners are sized from the smallest conveyable window unit up to huge central air systems that can weigh 5 tons or more. Self contained units have the advantage of low first cost, mobility and easy installation, while central air units cool larger volumes at lower comprehensive operating costs. Bridging the gap in the middle of these extremes is the split ductless air conditioner.

Ducted systems use the same ductwork that forced air heating uses by plainly adding a cooling unit to the furnace supply, allowing coverage for an whole living space. Equivalent cooling with window units would want an air conditioner in almost every room. Unfortunately, the first outlay for a central air system, along with maintenance and mend costs makes this solution prohibitively costly when air conditioning isn't a high priority. For instance in motel rooms that may or may not be rented any singular night or in areas of the country with shorter or cooler summers.

Air Conditioner And Heater Units

The split ductless theory uses the same principle of cooling that central air does, but is much smaller and much less costly to install. It consists of an inner unit that is wall mounted with a fan and cooling coils that is fed by an outer unit (hence the "split"). No air is exchanged in the middle of the two parts, only refrigerant. This means that no ducts are required; each split unit serves one room or area. On the inside are a cooling coil and a fan. On the covering is a compressor and heat exchange. No air is exchanged in the middle of the two. A second line for condensation drainage can also be installed in parallel with the refrigerant line2.

There are two main advantages of a split ductless theory over a window unit: the theory doesn't want a window and is mounted on any covering wall and because the compressor is outside, it is much quieter than self-contained window air conditioners. The major disadvantage is lack of portability - a split ductless theory is permanent (or nearly so).

Zoning

Because vigor efficiency is getting great attention, both for cost savings and environmental concerns, split ductless air conditioners are becoming more popular. They offer the ability to "zone" a house into separate areas and customize cooling needs for each area.

Zoning is done by using one covering compressor unit that feeds some interior cooling units, each in its own zone. Each zone can then be regulated with a separate thermostat and remote control. A bedroom which isn't utilized in the daytime can be set to a higher climatic characteristic and the door done to limit air circulation to the rest of the house. This saves on comprehensive use and subsequent cost. Central air systems cannot be controlled in this manner - they are whether "all on" or "all off."

Zones can also be added when an expanding is put on a house, provided the covering unit can take further capacity. Zones can also be switched on or off (as long as the total whole of lines in use remains within specifications) for when a guest is visiting (guest room) or other purposes.

One further consideration is that zones and capabilities can be added piecewise, so that the cost of factory can be spread out over one or more years.

Types and styles

Because they are meant to only serve a small room, split ductless systems are not made in large sizes. Customers prefer the unobtrusive nature of a toaster sized coil and blower fan. The available production in Btuh (British Thermal Units per Hour) is up to about 12,000. This is enough for a singular room or "zone." The lower capacity for private interior units can be dealt with by running complicated interior units to a singular covering compressor.

For example, one theory by Sanyo3 (Quad Zone 7/7/7/7 kBtu) runs four interior units (up to 7,000 Btuh each) to one covering compressor with a total capacity of 24,000 Btuh. A singular refrigerant line runs to each of the four units.

One style that is favorite with motels that have an covering wall is a aggregate heater/air conditioner set up in a baseboard style. In the summer months it runs as a split ductless air conditioner and in the winter months the cycle is reversed and the same unit then acts as a heater.

When used in this dual configuration the products are more properly called heat pumps - they "pump heat" whether into or out of the house. One consideration is the distance in the middle of indoor and outdoor units. Since pumping long distances uses more energy, and because refrigerant lines lose heat, the limit is commonly fifty feet. This is a consideration when inspecting locations for both indoor and outdoor units.

Prices run into the complicated thousands for a multiline system, but savings can be had because of less cost to install compared to central air systems and lower operating costs - while central air systems max out at a Seer (Seasonal vigor Efficiency Ratio) of 20, split air systems can go as high as 23. For comparison, a window unit will not exceed a Seer of 10 - 13. singular unit systems start at about ,0004.

Split Unit Air Conditioner - It May Be the Energy-Efficient acknowledge for Cooling Your Home

Are you considering a split unit air conditioner?

If so, this article will interpret some of the advantages to using a mini split ideas to cool - and/or heat - your home.

Air Conditioner And Heater Units

Split Unit Air Conditioners Are a Great Alternative to original Cooling

Split Unit Air Conditioner - It May Be the Energy-Efficient acknowledge for Cooling Your Home

Many population live in climates where the outdoor temperatures can be uncomfortable in warm weather.

The base answers to these hot temperatures have been central air conditioning, window air conditioners and vaporing coolers (sometimes known as "swamp" coolers).

However, central air conditioning requires a lot of power which can be very expensive, and requires the factory of ducts (if not already installed in the home).

Window units are ugly, and most population don't want to give up the view out their windows to a large noisy box. Window air conditioners can also be very high-priced to operate.

Swamp coolers provide some cooling succeed and can be much less high-priced to operate. However, an vaporing cooler requires a large hole to be punched in a wall, its cooling succeed can feel very damp, and if your atmosphere is humid, the cooler cannot work properly to cool the home since it requires water to evaporate in order to cool. Consider: how well does water evaporate when the weather is humid?

Split Unit Air Conditioners Use Today's Energy-Efficient Technology

A split unit ideas may be the respond you're looking for.

Split unit air conditioners use state-of-the-art heat pump technology, which is very similar to the way your home refrigerator works.

Your refrigerator operates by taking the heat out of the fridge and releasing it out into the kitchen. Of course, you don't notice any heat in the refrigerator, right? You notice that the fridge is cool inside, but on top of it or behind it you can feel warm air being released.

Split unit air conditioners work in the same manner. They take the heat out of a room and release it outside, thus leaving cool air inside.

What Does a Split Unit Air Conditioner Include?

There are two components needed for a split unit system. The first is the outdoor unit, which provides the condenser. The indoor unit provides the evaporator and blower.

The outdoor component looks like a small accepted air conditioning unit. It will need to be placed within 50 feet of the indoor unit for optimum energy-efficient operation.
